Since 2006—marking the first edition of the Erisma program—Mihaela Gînju has spearheaded the ERUDIO Meetings conference series, a forum for reflection on the major themes that define leadership.

For nearly two decades, the ERUDIO Meetings have remained a space for genuine dialogue, where leaders discover the ideas, questions, and perspectives that shape the future.

This year, as part of the 8th series of ERUDIO Meetings, we will reflect on the world we inhabit through the lens of the music that has accompanied us for centuries—from Monteverdi to Metallica. We invite you to join us on May 28 and June 11 to discover what we can learn about ourselves—as a civilization and as people of the present day—through the music we will listen to and the insights into our humanity highlighted by writer and philosopher Horia-Roman Patapievici.
 

May 28 – An Anthropological Diagnosis

June 11 – Modern Music and the Dionysian Sense of Life

In these lectures, Horia-Roman Patapievici will develop a complex argument regarding the nature of music as an art form, the nature of man as the historical subject (and object) of art, the nature of modernity, and the relationship between the music of our era and the aspirations of modern life.

The lectures consist of three parts:

• The first part is dedicated to the word "music." What does it mean? Where does it come from? What was called "music" in the past, and what do we designate by this word today? What kind of art is music? Philosophical, political, and anthropological perspectives on music.
• The second part is dedicated to the modernist rupture and understanding it. What is "classical" music? What is "modern" / "modernist" music? What is "rock-and-roll" music?
• The third part is dedicated to the question of life. How many kinds of life are there? What kind of life defines the era in which we happen to live? What is the life of our age? What kind of life do we lead? The connection between the nature of music and the nature of life. What is the Dionysian? What is an inimitable life?
